Statutory Declaration on RTI Act

Sakthi College of Arts and Science hereby makes a statutory declaration that it exercises the Right to Information for citizens to secure access to information under the control of public authorities to promote transparency and accountability in governance under Section 4(1)(b) of the RTI Act 2005.

The RTI Act

The Right to Information Act, 2005 (22 of 2005) was enacted by the Parliament and came into force from 15 June 2005. This Act empowers citizens with access to information under the control of public authorities to ensure transparency and accountability. Institutions established by law, owned or substantially financed by the Government, including colleges and universities, come under the meaning of a Public Authority under this Act.

Certain provisions of this Act came into effect immediately on enactment while others came into effect within 100/120 days. All public institutions must implement proactive disclosure of information through their official websites.
