NSS

Objectives

1.  Make Education Relevant to Present Needs

To make education more meaningful and responsive to contemporary situations by exposing students to real-life conditions. This helps address community needs while supplementing university or college education by bringing students face to face with rural realities.

2.  Provide Opportunities for Development Work

To offer students hands-on opportunities to participate in planning and implementing development projects. These projects not only help create durable community assets in rural areas and urban slums but also improve the quality of life of economically and socially weaker sections.

3.  Promote Collaborative Community Engagement

To encourage students and non-students to work together with adults in rural areas, fostering cooperation, mutual understanding, and community spirit.

4.  Develop Leadership Qualities

To identify and nurture the latent leadership potential of students and local youth—both rural and urban. Through active involvement in development programmes, they gain confidence, decision-making ability, and responsibility, which also ensures proper maintenance of assets created during camps or projects.

5.  Emphasize the Dignity of Labour

To highlight the importance of self-help, manual work, and the balance between physical labor and intellectual pursuits. This helps develop a positive attitude toward practical, hands-on community service.

6.  Encourage Youth Participation in Nation Building

To inspire young people to participate enthusiastically in national development efforts and promote national integration through collective living, cooperative action, and shared responsibility.
